It truly is so much fun being a part of a lingerie photo shoot, as was the case with these photos taken by the talented William Williams.  Both he and model Holly Parker collaborated to create these striking images featuring lingerie picked up from Faire Frou Frou!   What's always interesting is seeing how a given photographer selects lingerie from our shop and makes them come to life with distinct style and personality in their work.  We were very impressed with what William did here! 
Probably most of our lingerie fans recognize the Bordelle Tutu Waspie, which was perfectly paired with a Tamzin Lillywhite pony ear bridle.  Other pieces from our boutique include the red Lascivious Helena bra/panty set, the Lascivious Tyra cropped (strappy) top, and the Marlies Dekkers 'Leading Strings' strappy thong.

Fraulein Kink - Start Your Wishlist Here!

We first saw the new "Philosophy in the Bedroom" collection from Fraulein Kink about a month ago, and we simply can't keep it under wraps any longer, so here it is!  Coming to Faire Frou Frou in just a handful of weeks (crossing fingers it's here before Valentine's Day!), German accessories label Fraulein Kink will make its debut in its first luxury lingerie boutique in the U.S.  We are proud to be that store! 
With the latest range you will see the familiar Fraulein Kink use of fringe and bondage-chic accessories.  Our favorite is the brand-new Miss Kitten Mask which is a fringe eye-mask with darling cat ears...meow!  We also love those white furry handcuffs...they come with either a gold-plate or silver chain attachment; we're doing both styles! 
We are pretty excited to see the customer response to these pieces.  We are also pretty excited to set-up our Valentine's Day display with Fraulein Kink...they will go wonderfully with our latest Lascivious new arrivals!

Fetish-Inspired Fashion

We've definitely seen an inclination in fashion, and certainly at Faire Frou Frou, toward more fetish-inspired styling.  With brands such as Lascvious, Maison Close, Marlies Dekkers and Bordelle performing so well at our shop, we know there is an increasing demand for elegant lingerie with a bit of a sophisticated bad-girl edge.  This editorial is a good example of fetish-inspired looks created with carefully layering and mixing lingerie with outerwear looks.  We love that we are seeing more bra styles with interesting strap/cut-out detail.  Each of these looks is actually more suggestive of fetish, which is what makes these images so powerful.

Bizarre Magazine by John Willie

We're taking a bit of creative license here in that although we're a luxury lingerie blog, we are stretching our coverage base to include a bit of erotica.  And come on, we know that lingerie is next-door neighbors to the land of erotic adventures.  Nonetheless, in true Frou Frou style, we are keeping it clean and have selected some fun vintage illustrations from Bizarre Magazine.  Between 1946-1959 bondage artist John Willie created photographs and illustrations for a publication that may have been quite scandalous back in his day, but nowadays comes across as cheeky (or at least with regards to the pictures we're showing).  He often depicted women in compromising sexual situations, and had a tendency to show women tied up or in various restraints...he especially had a thing for spanking.  You probably get a sense of that with the whips and ties you see in this very post.  What's interesting is that to this very day you see models re-creating the look and poses you see in many of his pictures (for instance Bernie Dexter, Mosh, photographs by Ellen von Unwerth, etc.). 
On a completely separate note, the more we look at these illustrations, the more we think shoe designer Christian Louboutin may have been influenced by John Willie.  What do you think?

Fraulein Kink - Made for Pleasure

We love it when an up-and-coming designer pulls out all the stops with their catalog photos, which is just what Nicole Herman of Fraulein Kink did.  The Spring 2011 collection introduces just a handful of new high-fashion fetish accessories that are striking and beautiful.  Perhaps our favorite piece is the Florbelle Fringe Blindfold; we love the little crystal details along the top which actually remind us of the Chrysler Building!  Of course the cuffs and collar set are striking too (equal parts naughty and sophisticated), just as we would expect from Fraulein Kink! 
There are actually more pieces to the collection, but we wanted to feature those from this specific shoot with photographer Catherine Day and model Sohui.

We think Bordelle has perfected the art of the high-class, bad-girl lingerie ensemble. Bordelle balances naughty with sophistication, and a touch of S&M with class. Don't you agree? Their website is now showing images from the Spring 2010 collection, and normally we don't show images so far in advance, but if the designer is doing it we wanted to as well!
You will find some of the above pieces in the lovely Faire Frou Frou in just a few short months, so in the meantime you can start putting aside a Bordelle fund! This is a couture lingerie label that is handmade in a London atelier. The attention to detail is stunning, as well as the concept and design of each piece. Bordelle is really one of the standout new labels in the high-end lingerie market (much like most of the brands we carry). It truly has a style that is like no other, and we applaud their creativity! We also love the quality of their images for the latest collection; that really makes a difference in creating a brand's image.
