Though we typically don't feature a designer's collections until it's available in stores, we made an exception for The Lake & Stars.  We figure that if Refinery 29 can do it, so will we!  The Fall 2011 collection was unveiled as part of NYFW and we are definitely in love.  The designers Nikki Dekker and Maayan Zilberman made a point of showing that their designs look fantastic on most body types, not just lanky models.  We hope you enjoy this sneak peek as much as we do, and we look forward to doing an in-depth look at the collection once it hits our sales floor this August (but in the meantime, to learn more about their inspiration for their latest designs, visit their blog here).

The Lake & Stars - Spring 2010

We have been patiently waiting since September 2009 to share these images with you from the SS2010 collection by The Lake & Stars (you may have spotted them months ago elsewhere but we don't like showing a collection prematurely out of respect for the designer). Let's just say we were floored by the amazing job the ladies behind The Lake & Stars did in putting the Spring lookbook together. Designers Nikki and Maayan teamed with the talented photographer Tom Hines whose conceptual vision made their dazzling new collection look like a spread in W Magazine.
Putting this type of effort into a catalogue makes such a difference for a designer; the branding, the attention to detail and the concept are seamlessly displayed to capture the attention of the consumer and the fashion world. Memorable images like this really set The Lake & Stars apart from many of their contemporaries.

Also, the brand has launched a sister line called "Double in Brass" which will be sold exclusively at Urban Outfitters throughout 2010. It is a younger, more contemporary collection of lingerie and loungewear. The phrase “Double in Brass” is a Victorian term for taking on a second job...very clever, just like everything these ladies do!

The Lake & Stars - new pieces at Faire Frou Frou

We have these pieces (Truce & Trick Date) available at Faire Frou Frou now!!

We are finally getting around to adding the new pieces from The Lake & Stars to our online store and blog! The pictures in this post represent 2 new groups; Truce and Trick Date.
Basically the Truce pieces are those with the mesh & net strips across the front of the tops. The Trick Date pieces are those with the contrast ribbon trim on the tops (pink with orange ribbon, navy blue with green ribbon). Both groups are just lovely and true to The Lake & Stars style, which is an assortment of modern, feminine and fashion-forward designs.
We actually have the entire collection in stock, but haven't quite gotten everything online as of this moment (should be soon!)...let us know if there's something you're wanting.
You should know that Nikki & Maayan from TLS were featured in the July issue of W Magazine as one of "this year's breakout young designers". Both designers are shown below, along with a model wearing one of their pieces (6th, 7th & 8th from left). Congratulations ladies!!!

The Lake & Stars - Fall collection

It seems like we have waited FOREVER to share these adorable images from the Fall collection of The Lake & Stars (TLS) with you...and now that TLS has posted the new items on their website, we can share these images with you too.
As you may know, we're a sucker for anything ballet-themed, and of course the styling/design for The Lake & Stars never fails to impress! We love that they used NYC ballerinas in a gorgeous loft for their lookbook - it just sets the tone perfectly. The creativity from designers Maayan and Nikki shows in every detail - even their washing instructions are specialized with cheeky comments for each group. If you enjoyed what you've seen from this brand in the past, you will be thrilled with yet another strong collection.
The next new group coming out is called "Love Triangle" - this features pieces made from sheer microfiber and cotton tissue jersey. These pieces are shown in ivory/charcoal and walnut/chocolate (see below). We will have these in store in August - can't wait!!

We will post more images in the up-coming months, but just wanted to feature what's available soon (new pieces will be coming out between August & November 2008).

The latest & greatest from The Lake & Stars

We received our latest shipment from The Lake & Stars, and this group included the long-awaited Opportunity Trench coats! Actually, they came just in time for the rainy weather in here Los Angeles. We love the idea of the trench with sexy lingerie underneath.
We also received the "We're on Break" collection, which we hear may show up in the "Sex & the City" movie. It is so cute! This group features pieces made from a gray cotton/modal with silk charmeuse ribbon strips layered across the front.
