This is What 'Plus-Size' Looks Like (for a Model)

Whitney Thompson (above & below)

This lace top (on Crystal Renn) looks just like a Vannina Vesperini piece that we bought about 5 years ago at her Paris shop! It has to be the same one!

We were at the bookstore the other night and noticed Crystal Renn's new book entitled Hungry. We've posted on Crystal before, and thought we'd dig up a few more lingerie images of her to share with you. Along the way we discovered a few lovely pictures of fellow "plus-size" model Whitney Thompson, whose claim to fame is having won cycle 10 of America's Next Top Model. We love that top image of her, with just a bit of trim from her bra peeking out of her top!
It seems that every now and then a top fashion magazine will celebrate the plus-size form, and just recently we heard that Glamour magazine is going to regularly feature these lovely curves! It is refreshing to see a beautiful photograph of a model wearing lingerie and not feel bad about your own figure.

Bad Betty!

images via here
photos by Terry Richardson

Mad Men and its retro style seems to have a heavy influence in design these days, and we particularly love to see it interpreted in lingerie. January Jones, who plays the housewife Betty Draper in the series, is seen here modeling for GQ magazine.
She's mostly wearing Dolce & Gabbana lingerie and Kiki de Montparnasse in this shoot. It's actually not our very favorite GQ spread, but we certainly do like it. Maybe it's because we have never watched Mad Men...are we really missing out?

Lingerie & Photography; Jane McLeish Kelsey

images & copyright via here

These images by Jane Mcleish Kelsey kind of have a polaroid effect; the grainy soft-focus and slight over-exposure. Of course we love anything that reminds us of a Polaroid (see our last post), and we're sure you will enjoy them too. The styling in each picture was also done incredibly well, such as the scarves and glasses that add interesting details.

Mint Siren - Fall/Winter 2009

We were so happy to discover the latest images from Mint Siren for their Fall/Winter '09 campaign. The first set of shots, the polaroids, were taken by the brand's designer Josefine Wing - we love those! The other 2 sets were taken by local UK photographers. We like seeing how each photographer has a unique way of capturing the same outfits. All of the pieces are retro-inspired, and certainly some are more risque than others! As usual, we are loving the high-waisted panties!!
The newest pieces are now available for purchase online...click here to shop.

Dita von Teese - Party Edition

images via here

For the first time in a long time we are coveting lingerie from Wonderbra, all thanks to the glamorous Dita von Teese! Seriously, we haven't owned a Wonderbra since high-school...and that was about 10 years ago (more or less!).
The latest collection is called Party Edition, which just launched on October 5, 2009. Naturally, any lingerie with that name is going to be sparkling, sexy and perfect for a night of celebrating! What a cute theme for a lingerie collection.
These very moderately-priced pieces are finally available in the US, but apparently only through one online store. Visit Dita's domain for details.
And just a teaser...when we re-open our boutique, we have a collection of goodies handmade for us exclusively by Dita von Teese's costume designer...we can't wait to share!!
