Gail Rubke - Faire Frou Frou's Artist in Residence!

The weekend is a perfect time for relaxing and exploring your hobbies (painting, photography...), so I felt it was the perfect time to post the artwork of Faire Frou Frou co-owner Gail Rubke.  If you can see beyond the horrible quality of my photographs, you will discover some lovely lady portraits.  I say 'lady portraits' because that seems to be the trend in interior decorating these days, and Gail (my mom) certainly does tend to draw inspiration from the female form & face.  I posted some of my favorite oil paintings by mom, which most recently includes a portrait she did of me (top image).  I also included a painting of 'Ladies on the Beach' which is inspired by my favorite Joaquin Sorrolla oil painting (my brother and I  like to light-heartedly argue over who will inherit that piece).
Gail does sell her work, so if you are interested in seeing more of her paintings you can contact her directly at "fairefroufrou @ gmail.com".
Which painting by Gail is your favorite?

Today we decided to create an inspiration board, particularly because we have so many amazing photographs on our computer that wouldn't otherwise be posted on our site.  The theme for this board are the colors gray & peach/pink.  We began the board with the Alessandra-Russh photo (as shown in full above) and built the images around her.  Isn't it lovely when an image inspires you so?
We are planning on creating inspiration boards more frequently on our blog...simply because they are fun to make and exciting to share!  Of course there will certainly be lingerie elements in every board we create!

We just discovered the best online contest (open worldwide, except to the USA)! Lingerie brand Triumph International is hosting a worldwide lingerie competition (for students only) in which those of us who vote for the best look have a chance at winning 2 tickets to the VIP Triumph Inspiration Award Ceremony.  The event takes place in London on September 16th and the winner will be treated to a night’s stay at the Jurys Inn Hotel in Chelsea and receive a set of Triumph Shape Sensation underwear. Sounds good to us.
The official details are as follows:
Much-loved lingerie brand Triumph International has invited fashion students from around the world to come up with a design for autumn/winter’s most inspiring underwear. The theme for this year’s competition was ‘shape sensation’ – to shape women with lingerie that brings out the best in them while celebrating their uniqueness. Which of these amazing designs do you think is the future of fashion? Cast your vote and you could be a VIP guest at the award ceremony in London on 16 September.
The designer crowned winner of the Triumph Inspiration Award 2010 will win €15,000 to help them launch their career, plus their lingerie showpiece will be turned into a limited-edition Triumph product, sold worldwide!  There's a lot of talent in this group, so we're excited to see who wins.
We have attached images of some of our favorite designs, but you can see all 27 finalists and cast your vote here.   You have until August 31, 2010 to vote.

Loulou Loves You!

We can't believe we haven't posted about the lingerie brand Loulou Loves You...seriously, we can't understand this oversite because we are smitten with this label!  In any event we are so pleased to finally share this ultra-feminine, whimsical label with you.
Loulou Loves You was born in the U.K. in 2007 from the creative talents of designer Loulou Androlia.  Her pieces typically include dramatic ruffles and oversized bows, which are slightly reminiscent of a little girl's attire.  It's as if this is the label the grown-up Alice in Wonderland would wear!  From playsuits to camisoles and ruffle bras, there's plenty to choose from.  There are even headbands, floral wreaths for your hair and feather necklaces from the Loulou accessories line.
That being said, we know plenty of our readers can envision themselves wearing these pieces too...and just as they will love Loulou, Loulou Loves You!
You can shop the current collection here

Camilla Akrans Photography

images via here, Vogue Nippon, photography by Camilla Akrans, model Anna Jagodzinska, styled by Sissy Vian

Of course we love these pictures; they're by photographer Camilla Akrans!  This Vogue Nippon editorial (from 2008) features the beautiful Anna Jagodzinska wearing stockings on her mile-long legs and bits of lingerie here and there.  Plus there's plenty of lace, so that falls into the lingerie catalog as well (for purposes of this blog anyway). From here we'll just let the pictures do the talking!
