The Lake & Stars - Spring 2010

We have been patiently waiting since September 2009 to share these images with you from the SS2010 collection by The Lake & Stars (you may have spotted them months ago elsewhere but we don't like showing a collection prematurely out of respect for the designer). Let's just say we were floored by the amazing job the ladies behind The Lake & Stars did in putting the Spring lookbook together. Designers Nikki and Maayan teamed with the talented photographer Tom Hines whose conceptual vision made their dazzling new collection look like a spread in W Magazine.
Putting this type of effort into a catalogue makes such a difference for a designer; the branding, the attention to detail and the concept are seamlessly displayed to capture the attention of the consumer and the fashion world. Memorable images like this really set The Lake & Stars apart from many of their contemporaries.
Take a look at the rest of the images on The Lake & Stars website...there are captions and a bit of a dangerous story that go along with them.

Also, the brand has launched a sister line called "Double in Brass" which will be sold exclusively at Urban Outfitters throughout 2010. It is a younger, more contemporary collection of lingerie and loungewear. The phrase “Double in Brass” is a Victorian term for taking on a second job...very clever, just like everything these ladies do!

Gorgeous Neutrals

Nude lingerie never looked so good..truly. These pictures are incredibly sexy and instantly captured our attention. Our first thought was whose line is this for? It turns out these images aren't from a lingerie catalogue, but from an Argentinian hairdresser's website! Claudio Cerini is basically the Vidal Sassoon of South America (he even trained in Vidal Sassoon school almost 20 years ago).
Upon second glance, the hair does look pretty good on these ladies...but it's the overall styling, the beauty of the models and the talent of the photographer that make these images spectacular.
Truth be told, we didn't know that basic nude control top panties could look so amazing! Little did we know we had to put a cute patent leather belt over our undies to make them look better. We're also loving the puffy sleeve tops!
In any event, Cerini's catalogue of beautifully coifed models is worth a look; very impressive.

This post has two of our favorite things; a Jessica Stam editorial paired with lingerie! Straight from the February 2010 issue of Canada's Fashion Magazine, these photos are simply further evidence of the lingerie as outerwear trend. The suggestion that you wear a bustier instead of a blouse is perhaps something you will be doing in the near future! It's funny because when we first see a trend we think, no that won't be me, but about a year later we've fully embraced it...kind of how we felt about Gladiator sandals and boyfriend jeans a few years ago (we fell for those trends hook, line & sinker!).

Immodesty Blaize

After reading the latest issue of Burlesque Magazine, we spotted these gorgeous images of burlesque performer Immodesty Blaize (promoting her new film). Of course we knew we had to share!
We first discovered Ms. Blaize when she modeled a few pieces from the Madame V catalog in 2007, and once you see someone as spectacular as she you don't forget!
Often referred to as the "the undisputed queen of British burlesque" you can find her performing internationally in luxurious and decadent costumes filled with crystals, feathers and dazzling jewels. And look at those corsets...what can we say but 'wow'! We can only imagine how much it costs to have a custom Swarovski crystal-covered corset made for you...but we're sure it's worth it. Something to add to our wish list!
