Dreamy

photos by Alison Rubke (aka Mlle. Frou-Frou)

The world looks so beautiful through the lens of a Polaroid camera. In this case it was a combination of my Canon digital camera & photo editing software, but you catch my drift. I think I could go on converting my photos all day long because the result is just so dreamy. This post includes a couple of pictures that I took at my home and at work (Faire Frou Frou).
I guess you should expect more photos like this on our site because I'm obsessed!

Mint Siren - Fall 2010 Preview

images courtesy of Mint Siren
photographer: James Christopher Gray, hair & makeup: Stephanie Stokkvik

It won't be much longer before the Fall/Winter 2010 lingerie collections hit the sales floor, so in preparation for the up-coming season we're going to whet your appetite with a sneak peek of the latest from U.K. brand Mint Siren. This sleek new collection will make its official debut in September 2010, in which designer Josefine Wing features a beautiful combination of black and gold intimates. We love how the pieces were styled with a definite ready-to-wear vibe...we wish we could walk around work like this (ahem, we would like the model's body too if that were to happen). Overall there's a lot of gold lace embellishment and metal detailing on Mint Siren's pieces, and swimwear has been added to the mix with a black denim bikini.
Which piece will be going on your wish list? You can shop the Mint Siren Summer collection here.

Florrie Mitton Couture Garters

images courtesy of Florrie Mitton

A little over a year ago, the Florrie Mitton label was born (on Etsy) and now it's the must-have label for bridal garters. And these aren't just any garters, Florrie Mitton hand-makes exquisite little treasures from the most beautiful silk satins, lace, tulle and chiffon. Furthermore, most pieces are adorned with a special little detail, whether it be a vintage rhinestone garland or a sweet sparkling charm. Most of the garters are reminiscent of the grandeur of yesteryear from the Gilded Age to the early 20th-Century influences of Art Deco. This makes sense considering the brand was named after and influenced by the designer's great grandmother.
Each Florrie Mitton garter is handmade in the UK and come presented in a keepsake gift box. With a garter as beautiful as these, you may not want to toss it!
You can now purchase Florrie Mitton at Faire Frou Frou! Click here to purchase.

Karl Lagerfeld for Eres Paris

Karl Lagerfeld collaborates with Eres Paris

as you click on each outfit, the girls get stripped down to their Eres lingerie & swimsuits!
images via Eres Paris

We discovered this fun little application over on the Eres lingerie website; it's a lookbook for Karl Lagerfeld's joint collection with the French lingerie/swim powerhouse wherein each time you click on the dressed model she gets stripped down to her lingerie or bikini (no worries, it doesn't strip off more than that!). The retro-styled model is just too cute, and of course the Eres/Lagerfeld designs don't disappoint.
Karl Lagerfeld actually photographed model Emily Didonato in a "fashion tale" series that pair Eres pieces with clothing from its sister label Chanel. Lagerfeld's message is that the stylish, well-dressed woman who wears Chanel ready-to-wear only wears the finest pieces underneath.
Makes sense to us. As far as we go, we have the Eres lingerie, we just need the Chanel clothing!

Carefree Summer Days

Loup Charmant in Vogue Italy, photographer Steven Meisel

all images via Loup Charmant

Loup Charmant is a romantic organic cotton loungewear brand from NYC by designer Kee Edwards. This eco-friendly label consists of pieces made from wispy white cotton that's perfect for a day in the Summer sun. Just seeing this collection makes us wish for a lazy day away from the city while enjoying a cold glass of lemonade.
Loup Charmant, which means 'charming wolf' in French, features a mix of loungewear and ready-to-wear items that have a somewhat vintage appeal and girlish charm. We wish we had a bit more details on the designer (we want to know the story behind the company's name), but we are happy to at least share that you can shop the entire collection here.

Italian Vixen, 60's Style

panties by What Katie Did (and yes, we edited this pic so it wouldn't be NSFW)

now those are statement glasses! actually loving the ruffled edge of her top.
images via here, photos by Ellen von Unwerth, styling by Cathy Kasterine, model Dioni Tabbers

Whenever we discover new work by photographer Ellen von Unwerth, it's pretty much required posting on this blog. These pictures from the July 2010 issue of Vogue Italy have the 'wow factor' we're accustomed to with von Unwerth's images and certainly some pretty Italian intimates. Naturally we see a lot of Dolce & Gabbana lingerie here, and also spotted a pair of undies by UK favorite What Katie Did. Of course the teased hair, the big pouty lips and the dramatic 60's-inspired eyeliner are the perfect way to set the stage for these sexy photographs. Makes us wish we could pull off this look in real life...we'd certainly get a lot of cat calls!

Clube Bossa - Brazilian Swimwear

images via Clube Bossa

While most swimwear designers look to Brazil for their inspiration, this Brazilian swimwear label looked to Paris for inspiration for the Spring/Summer 2010 collection. Clube Bossa is a sophisticated swimwear label with statement pieces designed by Guilherme Vieira. It is quite contemporary with a vintage flair and certainly sexy without showing excessive skin. The Summer collection is right on trend with the high waist bikini styles and the ruched one-piece suits.
The Clube Bossa website describes the inspiration for the current season as follows:
Spring Summer 2010 collection was inspired in a visit to Paris
early 2009, when the charm and beauty of Paris and Parisians
made Vieira reflect on the daily life and the opportunities lost by
not evaluating properly the world around us. The collection was
named Flânerie, French word that describes the act of ranging
around looking for new satisfaction in simple routine activities.
These swimwear images are so beautiful and work wonderfully in these photographs, but we're not sure that we would pull-off such a muted/neutral swimsuit in 'real life'. What about you?

Ari Dein: The New Name in Luxury Lingerie

Faire Frou Frou is pleased to add yet another amazing luxury lingerie brand to its selection, with the latest being ARI DEIN, the new name in luxury intimates. We first reported on the brand a few months ago, and now the debut collection is available for purchase at our boutique.
ARI DEIN features mainly loungewear pieces that are handmade in Manhattan's Garment District. Each piece has beautiful detailing, is made from 100% silk (no synthetics here!) and accented with the signature tiny gold lion-faced buttons (after all, the name Ari means 'lion').
The pieces we have introduced to our store are from the Boutique Hotel collection, which includes pieces inspired by the glamour and decadence of New York's Waldorf Astoria Hotel (where her family once owned a lavish fur business during the early-to-mid 1900's). There definitely is a sense of nostalgia and hints of a bygone era in ARI DEIN's vintage-inspired designs.
