Wouldn't it be so much fun to do a pin-up shoot like these with the talented Carlo Pieroni? If only he did 'civilian' portraits, we would stand a chance! He just might be the worldwide front-runner in pin-up photography...though we also love the pin-up work of Norman Jean Roy and Danielle Bedics!
This is exactly how we enjoy seeing lingerie; flirty, cheeky and a hint of innocence mixed with a bad girl twist. His photographs practically look like a Vargas painting mixed with an Olivia painting...or at least the models/poses are very Vargas-esque. That effect is likely due to the fact that he mixes illustration with his photos as displayed in the images above.

I recently bought a pin-up photography book and fell head-over-heels in love with this style I would LOVE to do a shoot like this one day. So beautiful!!

ReplyDeleteBeen loving your site! It wouldn't be too hard to do this with 'civilians'. Obviously, you already have the attire. From there, it's just simple props, getting that playful/brooding face just right, and then just a little tweaking with Photoshop or whatever to add the illustrations. The hardest part is actually having a good camera and lighting to have the bright colors and getting the modelesque poses. I actually think 'civies' look hotter in these type of pics than pros.

Fantastic! These pinups are outstanding. I have a book full of vintage pinup paintings and the poses are so reminiscent of those.
